The Thunder Bay Museum, Friends of the Finnish Labour Temple, and ShebaFilms presents:

Reel Memories of the Lakehead: News from the Giant

The Reel Memories of the Lakehead project was a partnership between the Thunder Bay Museum, Friends of the Finnish Labour Temple, and ShebaFilms. News from the Giant is a series of 8 short vignettes from the Thunder Bay (formerly Port Arthur and Fort William) and Northwestern Ontario region. These vignettes replicate the year-end highlight reels, that news stations and movie theaters of the day used to show, reviewing major events of the year. The newsreel film was originally donated to the Thunder Bay Museum by Fraser Dougall and spans from approximately 1958-1978. These vignettes represent a small portion of a very large collection of 16mm film that has been cleaned, spliced, and digitized for academic and public use.
