Description:
Explore the histories of the McCoy family and Fort William First Nation in this powerful exhibition that traces generations of resilience, change, and continuity. Drawing from family archives, museum research, and oral histories, Layer by Layer reveals how personal stories illuminate broader experiences of colonialism, land loss, and cultural endurance.
Through documents, photographs, and select artworks by Virginia McCoy (1948–2022), the exhibition connects individual memory to community history, offering insight into the enduring strength of Fort William First Nation and the ongoing process of reclaiming identity and belonging.
The event will feature an official program with an opening ceremony, greetings from dignitaries, Society leadership, and remarks from the interpretive content contributors. There will also be plenty of time for attendees to enjoy complimentary refreshments, mingle, and visit the exhibit.
