Calling all BRICK lovers, builders, and creative minds! The Thunder Bay Museum, in partnership with Science North, invites you to an exciting one night Brick Building Contest as part of our Science Carnival celebration.
This city-wide build-off challenges participants to design and create BRICK builds inspired by Thunder Bay—from iconic landmarks and infrastructure to industry, history, and imagination. Whether you’re a seasoned brick master or a first-time builder, this event is all about creativity, community, and fun.

How It Works
Participants build their creations at home, then drop them off at the Museum ahead of the event. (more details below) On contest night, all builds will be proudly displayed throughout the Museum’s second-floor galleries for visitors to explore and admire. An awards ceremony will wrap up the evening, and builders can take their creations home afterward. Winners of the event will be asked if they would like their builds to be displayed at the mall during the Science Carnival.
Meanwhile, families and visitors can enjoy free-play LEGO stations in the Multi-Purpose Room, featuring hands-on building activities provided by Science North—perfect for kids who want to build while they’re inspired by the competition.

Spots are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Most Realistic Thunder Bay Symbol
&
Most Realistic Engineering Marvel
Additional fun awards—such as Tallest Build, Most Colourful, or Funniest Build—will also be recognized with small prizes like free Museum admission and souvenirs.

Registration is free and required. Sign-up includes your name, age category, build title, and a short description of your creation.
Whether you’re competing or just coming to play, the Building Brick Contest is a celebration of imagination, engineering, and community—brick by brick.

Drop off times will begin the weekend of February 14th for people to bring in during our open hours. On February 18th the museum will be open for drop offs until 7pm.
